Privacy Policy — FormatLab

FormatLab converts your files entirely on your own computer. Your videos and audio are never uploaded anywhere. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no crash reporting. An account is optional and is used only to unlock a paid plan.

FormatLab is a desktop video and audio converter developed by Warlord Softwares (“we”, “us”). This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.

Your media never leaves your computer

All conversion is done locally by a copy of FFmpeg bundled inside the app. The files you add, the files it produces, and everything read from them — filenames, durations, codecs, embedded metadata, the frame used for the preview thumbnail — stay on your machine. Nothing about them is sent to us or to anyone else, and the app works fully offline.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally, and only locally:

• Settings and preferences — theme, default output format and quality, number of simultaneous conversions, output folder.
• Converted files — saved to a folder you choose.
• Preview thumbnails — a single frame taken from each file you add, cached in a hidden folder beside your output folder so the list can show a preview.
• Account token (paid plans only) — if you sign in, a login token is stored on your device so you do not have to sign in again.

None of this is uploaded to us. Uninstalling the app and deleting its data folder removes all of it.

Network connections

FormatLab does not need the internet to convert files. It connects only for these purposes:

• Update check — the app asks warlordsoftwares.com whether a newer version exists. Only the product name is sent. No identifier, and nothing about you or your files. (In the Microsoft Store build this is disabled entirely; the Store handles updates.)
• Sign-in and plan check (paid plans only) — if you choose to sign in, your email address and password are sent to warlordsoftwares.com over HTTPS to authenticate you, and the app then asks which plan your account holds. If you never sign in, the app never contacts us for this.

The app sends us no usage data, no crash reports, no device identifiers, and no information about the files you convert.

Account information

An account is required only for a paid plan. We store the email address you register with and your plan status, so that the app can verify your licence. We do not use your email for marketing unless you ask us to, and we do not share it with third parties. To have your account and its data deleted, email us at the address below.

Purchases

Paid plans are purchased on our website, not inside the app — the app simply opens our pricing page in your browser. Payment is handled there by our payment provider under its own privacy policy. The app itself never sees, handles, or stores your card or payment details.

Children

FormatLab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.

Permissions

On Windows, FormatLab runs with standard user permissions so that it can read the files you add and write converted files to a folder you choose. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or location.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new “Last updated” date.
